Accountants identify and measure financial data for businesses, organizations and governmental bodies. 

Why choose a career in accounting?

Accounting graduates have stimulating careers as accountants, chief financial officers, auditors, controllers, analysts, collection officers and financial managers.

The profession has been rated one of the most desirable.  According to The 2002 Jobs Rated Almanac, "accountant" was the fifth best job in terms of low stress and high pay.  

According to a quarterly survey of 81 schools published in 2007 by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), one of the biggest jumps in starting salaries was seen by those who majored in accounting.  They experienced a 2.7 percent climb in starting salaries to $47,421.
