Applicants for admission to the program are required to:

  • Complete all requirements for admission to graduate study as specified by the Graduate School.
  • Complete the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Information regarding the GMAT is available through: Graduate Management Admission Test, Educational Testing Service, Box 966, Princeton, NJ 08540. The results of the test must be mailed directly to the Director of the M.Acc. Program.
  • The GMAT requirement is waived for students with an undergraduate major in accountancy from a 4-year undergraduate AACSB accredited institution having an overall grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • A non-refundable application fee of $45.00 must be submitted with any application to the accountancy program. Attach your check or money order, payable to Southern Illinois University, to the top of the application form. Do not send cash. Only checks or money orders payable to United States banks will be accepted.
  • Admission to the program is based on a student's undergraduate grade point average (GPA), score from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and three letters of recommendation. The sum of the student's GPA times 200 plus the student's score on the GMAT must equal at least 1100. In addition, the applicant must have a minimum percentile of 30 percent on the GMAT verbal section.
  • Students whose native language is not English will be required to obtain an acceptable score (580 paper-based score; 230 computer-based score; 80 Internet-based score) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination before being admitted to the Master of Accountancy degree program.
