Preparing Your Packet |
Application checklist:
- Complete both admission application forms:
- the Graduate School Application (or submit application electronically ONLINE APPLICATION)
- the Master of Accountancy Program Application
- Contact each institution you have attended and have them send an official transcript directly to the SIUC School of Accountancy. Exception: Transcripts for work shown on SIUC records need not be requested. We will obtain these for you.
- Send an "Admission Recommendation Form" and recommendation envelope to each of three individuals who can evaluate your suitability for graduate accountancy education. Have them return the completed forms to you in the recommendation envelopes provided, which should be returned to you sealed and signed.
- An application fee of $45 (check or money order) payable to SIUC Graduate School is required. Failure to include the fee will result in delayed processing of your application.
- When you have gathered the above materials, place them in the enclosed envelope and send them to:

(Be sure to include all materials, including the Graduate School Application. Ignore the directions on the back of the Graduate School Application.)
- Arrange to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Have ETS send the score directly to the SIUC School of Accountancy. Please note that the Masters of Accountancy Program Code is 1731.
- The GMAT requirement is waived for students with an undergraduate major in accountancy from a 4-year undergraduate AACSB accredited institution having an overall grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale).
International Applicants: See "International Sheet for Application for Admission - International Form" regarding additional application materials required of international applicants.
Foreign-born applicants who have not completed a four-year bachelor's degree program in the United States of America are required by the Graduate School to take the Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) within 12 months of commencement of the term for which the applicant is seeking admission. The Graduate School requires a score of 550 (paper-based exam) and 220 (computer-based exam). The School of Accountancy requires scores of at least 580/230. |

Admissions Standards |
Admission is based upon the student's undergraduate Grade Point Average (GPA), score from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and letters of recommendation.The sum of the student's GPA times 200 plus the student's score on the GMAT must equal at least 1100.
GPA x 200 + GMAT score = 1100 min.
In addition, the applicant must have a minimum percentile of 30 percent on the GMAT verbal section. The GMAT requirement is waived for students with an undergraduate major in accountancy from a 4-year undergraduate AACSB accredited institution having an overall grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale).
UPON ADMISSION, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PAST COURSE WORK EVALUATED PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST REGISTRATION.
If you have grades of "C" or higher in course work at institutions other than SIUC that you wish to have considered for waiver of courses in the M.Acc. Program at SIUC, you are required to provide a copy of the syllabus you received for each comparable course for evaluation at least two weeks in advance of your first advisement appointment and subsequent registration. Where a syllabus is not available, you may present a course catalog or catalogs as appropriate, dated for the year(s) you completed the comparable course(s). |
