Prepare and Send Your Packet in the Following Order:

  • Send the $45 application fee payment made payable to SIUC.  Payment must be made in U.S. funds cleared through a U.S. bank.  An international money order, cashier’s check, certified check or other check drawn on a U.S. bank is acceptable.  Applications will not be processed until this fee payment is received. This fee cannot be waived.
  • Complete the “Application for Admission to Graduate StudyandCollege of Business Application Form.” Note: To be considered for an assistantship within the College of Business, check “Yes” to item #14 on the “College of Business Application Form.”
  • Send an “Admission Recommendation Form” to each of three individuals that can evaluate your suitability for graduate education.  Have them return the completed forms to you in sealed and signed envelopes, so you can include them in your application packet.
  • Arrange to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) six to twelve months prior to the semester in which you plan to enroll. Have ETS send your official scores (preferred minimum MBA 550, Ph.D. 600) to SIUC (address below).  CODE 1726 (MBA) or 1745 (Ph.D.).  The GMAT requirement cannot be waived or substituted.  
  • International applicants arrange to have your official TOEFL (minimum 213 computer based, 550 paper based, 80 internet based) sent to Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Graduate School Carbondale, IL 62901(Institution Code 1726). See TOEFL exemption policy for further information. The TOEFL must have been taken within 24 months prior to admission into the program.
  • Send a “Transcript Request Form” to each institution you have attended.Have the institution return the official transcripts to you, sealed and signed so you can include them in your application packetException:Transcripts for work shown on SIUC records need not be requested. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE: Carefully follow the transcript, marksheet, and diploma guidelines for the country in which you attended college.
  • International applicants should complete and send the “Financial Statement for Graduate International Students.”  Please attach supporting documents.  http://www.siu.edu/gradschl/InternationalFinance.pdf
  • International applicants send a copy of your passport page that lists your name and date of birth. The name on your “Application for Admission to Graduate Study” and I-20 must appear as it is listed on your passport.

WHEN YOU HAVE GATHERED ALL OF THE ABOVE MATERIALS, place them in a large envelope and mail to:

To avoid delays in the processing of your application, do not send incomplete applications and/or unofficial documents. (Application decisions will not be made until applications are complete.)

If you wish to be considered for financial support, you need to adhere to the earlier deadlines outlined above. Note: All doctoral programs, except finance, admit primarily for Fall only.
