Betty Brennan, a 1989 Marketing graduate, will be receiving the 2009 Alumna Achievement Award for her outstanding service and successful career as an entrepreneur.

Dr. Cheryl Burke Jarvis, a newly hired Associate Professor of Marketing, recently had a study published in the September issue for the Journal of Marketing. The Journal of Marketing has been the recognized leader in its field for more than seven decades.

Johannah Yutzy hired by Homeland Security
One College of Business alumna recently began working for the United States Department of Homeland Security in Springfield, Virginia, which is 20 miles from Washington, D.C.
Johannah Yutzy, who completed both her bachelor’s degree and MBA in Marketing at the College of Business, was recently hired on to the QinetiQ North America office, contracted by Homeland Security. Yutzy, a Plain City, Ohio native, came to Southern Illinois University in 2003 upon receiving a scholarship to play volleyball for the Salukis.

Putnam receives "Inspiring Women" award
The Southern Illinois University Foundation's Inspiring Women Program will present J. Adaire Putnam with the 2007 Alumna Achievement Award during a gala on Oct. 13 at the SIU Carbondale Student Center. The annual event honors women who have made significant, unique and lasting contributions to their communities or workplaces, and have served as role models of achievement. The program generates funds for scholarship endowments at SIUC.

Having pride in her Latina heritage, the 21-year-old grew up hearing stories of her grandfather, Felix Rodriguez, who came to the United States with “just $11 in his pocket and a dream,” she said.

A Mississippi State business college leader is being named a Fellow of the Marketing Management Association. Brian Engelland, head of Mississippi State's Department of Marketing, quantitative analysis and business law, will be the 20th member of the international organization to receive the high honor. The associate professor was recognized March 29 for his consistent scholarly research and continuing service to the profession.
