Accounting Career Day sets record

School of Accountancy Director Marcus D. Odom and Career Services and Placement Center Director Donna Margolis report that a record number of accounting firms and business students participated in the seventh annual Accounting Career Day held by the School of Accountancy.

A total of 29 companies and 175 students attended the event on Sept. 20. Accounting students met representatives from some of the world's leading corporations

Every fall, recruiters from across the country descend on the College of Business campus to meet with accounting students. The Accounting Career Day attendance list includes Archer Daniels Midland, Caterpillar Inc., Pepsi MidAmerica, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PriceWaterhouse Coopers, to name a few.

“College of Business students have proven themselves in the profession,” said Odom. “They are highly sought after by major companies.”

In fact, the School of Accountancy boasts a nearly 100 percent placement rate for its students. “Our students continue to impress their employers and that’s exactly why companies keep coming back to Carbondale so they can recruit more SIU College of Business students,” said Margolis.
