Four SIU College of Business alumni sit on the faculty of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga.:  Assistant Professors of Marketing Linda Mullen, Dena Hale and Michael L. Thomas and Assistant Professor of Accounting Brit McKay.

“Dr. Brit McKay is a fine representative of the School of Accountancy,” said Marcus D. Odom, director of the School of Accountancy.  “She will do wonderful things and will be a tremendous asset to Georgia Southern.”

“We are very proud of these marketing graduates,” said SIU Marketing Chair Terry Clark.  “They are outstanding teachers and researchers who represent SIU well.”

Thomas’s area of research includes non-profit marketing, particularly cause-related marketing, theory, strategy and retail.  He teaches business marketing and principles of retailing at Georgia Southern.

“My study at SIU College of Business really prepared me for my current position,” said Thomas.  “While challenging, the experience was very positive.”

Thomas credits Terry Clark, John Fraedrich, Lyn Knowles, Maryon King and Marge Smith with expertly guiding him through the rigors of graduate school.

“My experience at SIU was bittersweet as I lost my son during my time there.  However, the marketing faculty and staff were very supportive,” Thomas said.
