Disney coming to SIU College of Business

The Walt Disney Company's "Big Mouse on Campus" program is coming to Southern Illinois University Carbondale College of Business Oct. 13 to 15. The college is one of only two schools chosen for the program that will provide students the opportunity to jump-start a career with Disney. Louisiana State University is the other school. Accounting student wins scholarship

An accounting student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale has won a National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) scholarship, valued at $2,500. Conrad Houeto of the Republic of Benin, master of accountancy student in the College of Business and Administration, received the prize at the NABA conference in Philadelphia in June. "I was so proud to represent the NABA SIUC chapter, and Southern Illinois University as a whole," said Houeto, who carries a 4.0 GPA. [Read the full story]

 

Hard work pays off for graduating business student

Amanda F. Camacho has never taken life for granted. The granddaughter of native Puerto Ricans , Amanda was raised by police officer parents in inner-city Chicago. Having pride in her Latina heritage, the 21-year-old grew up hearing stories of her grandfather, Felix Rodriguez, who came to the United States with “just $11 in his pocket and a dream,” she said.
