- Another great opportunity as a Business student is to earn credit while studying abroad in Grenoble, France. - As summer came to end, a new beginning was brought about for 155 College of Business undergraduate, 19 Masters, and 9 PhD students. The College congratulated its summer graduates in a series of commencement ceremonies this August. The Graduate students were honored at a University wide ceremony for all Graduate level students. The undergraduate students were honored at a College of Business only ceremony. The College of Business is proud of its graduates and wishes them the best of luck in their careers! [read more…]
- The Southern Illinois University is still reeling from the May 8th “Derecho” storm that passed through parts of Southern Illinois. As construction continues on the new Saluki Way, so does construction to repair the damage from the May storm. The campus lost some 1,000 trees because of the brute strength winds that accompanied the storm. Power was lost for much of the region and many residents across Southern Illinois continue to wait for repairs to be completed on their homes.
- Michael Haywood, Director of Minority Programs, welcomed high school students from across the nation to the Southern Illinois campus this summer. From June 13 -20, minority students participated in the “Exploring Careers in Business” event, which is centered on providing the students with a glimpse into the business world. The week-long event kept the students busy with workshops for ACT preparation, guest speakers, and trips to Boeing and Enterprise. The event was very team oriented as the students worked on things such as dealing with money, communication, and goal attainment. Haywood said the purpose of the event is to help sell the students first on Southern Illinois, and then sell them on the College of Business. [read more…]
- The undergraduate advisement center in the College of Business underwent quite a facelift this summer. The center upgraded its look to not only appeal to students, but to help cater to students with questions more efficiently. The center now has four laptop stations, six desktop stations, and two flat screen televisions which scroll with relevant information. The upgrade was finished this summer.
